10 paintings for Lucas House

I had said recently that I was giving up on projects in order to concentrate on my own art practice. Well… just one more!

I’m really thrilled to learn today that I’ve secured a grant from the The Responsa Foundation (which supports art with strong social impact) to commission 10 paintings for Lucas House, a Community Mental Health Centre in Edmonton, Enfield (North London).

Lucas House offers services for people aged between 18-65 years of age, experiencing their first episode of psychosis, or those who are in the first three years of psychotic illness, living in Enfield. It also helps people to recover from common mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and schizophrenia, bi-polar affective disorder, psychotic depression and other psychiatric disorders.
I’ve already chosen 10 artists to paint for the project. They are (including myself):

Rhys Aneurin
John Wyatt Clarke
Lucy Bernadette Cox
Andrew Crane
Tamara Dubnyckyj
Alison Edmonds
Bo Gorzelak Pedersen
Robert Priseman
Uzma Sultan
Fionn Wilson

For those interested, I’ll keep you up to date with the project (paintings will be ready for the space in October this year). I’m so delighted about this and it’s a cause particularly important to me. Art in mental health spaces is vital and is scientifically proven to aid recovery.
