I’m thrilled that Christine mesmerises has entered Museum & Art Swindon’s art collection. It is also making its debut in ‘How You See Me: 400 years of portraiture at Swindon Museums’, running from April until January 2027, which will hopefully bring Christine Keeler’s story to a whole new audience and also highlight her son Seymour Platt’s campaign to clear her name of the unjust perjury conviction.
The collection is: ‘A nationally significant modern and contemporary British art collection and includes paintings, works on paper and sculpture, from the 1890s until today. Began in the 1940s with a focus on contemporary collecting, the collection contains hundreds of artworks by prominent modern artists including Lucian Freud, Howard Hodgkin, Gwen John and L.S. Lowry.’
The painting was put forward, amongst works by other artists, by collector and artist Robert Priseman who says that: ‘They loved it. More than that, they feel they will be able to make extensive use of it in their continuing programmes.’
It feels great to have another painting of Christine out there, highlighting her story, and this now means there are five portraits of her by myself in public collections.
